This paper summarises the current state of research on oil-water two-phase flow, covering flow pattern classification, experimental studies, and model calculations. Common flow patterns and their influencing factors are introduced, and the conversion of different flow types is analyzed. The characteristics and results of various experimental devices and methods are presented, as well as the application of multiphase flow models and solution methods in practical calculations. The applications and challenges of oil-water two-phase flow in the petroleum industry and other fields are discussed for subsequent research.
