Abstract

Primary school is the initial stage for learning English, and this stage of English learning will lay the foundation for students’ further development in junior high school, which is of great significance. Reading is an important channel for students to learn English materials, increase their knowledge and expand their vocabulary. The development of reading skills will promote students’ oral communication and writing abilities. Therefore, it is crucial for teachers to use English reading classes in primary schools to teach students efficiently. This study tries to apply mind mapping to English reading classes in primary school. The goal is to demonstrate that the application of mind mapping to English reading teaching can stimulate students’ interest in learning English and reading English texts, promote the cultivation of students’ writing ability, and develop students’ logical and divergent thinking skills. In addition, this study also hopes to show that mind maps can improve students’ reading manners, improve their reading skills through empirical research, and provide a better teaching method that will boost the efficiency and quality of English reading instruction in primary school.
