Communicative Language Teaching (CLT) has attracted a lot of attention in the field of language education, because of its focus on fostering meaningful language use and effective communication. However, in our country, the communicative approach is not as effective as it should be. This article begins with a brief introduction to CLT and its evolution, highlighting its key concepts and benefits. It then discusses the challenges presented by the context of learning English as a Foreign Language (EFL), as well as cultural and educational differences, and the exam-oriented education system. The paper proposes strategic countermeasures to address these challenges, aiming to enhance the implementation of CLT in China’s educational system.
