Abstract

The thinking capacity is an important part of the core competencies of the English subject, and continuation writing is a good example of combining reading and writing under new English question type of college entrance examination. Based on the investigation of the relationship between the cultivation of thinking capacity and the continuation writing teaching, the article discusses the problems in the teaching and learning of reading and writing, analyzes the strategies for cultivating students' thinking capacity in the continuation writing as well as the practice of teaching, i.e., sorting out the elements and cultivating the logic of thinking; setting tasks to develop originality of thought; mutual evaluation and correction to enhance critical thinking.
